What is Salesforce Experience Cloud?

Experience Cloud is the part of Salesforce for building external-facing websites and portals — secure, branded places where people outside your staff (donors, volunteers, grantees, members, constituents) log in and interact with information that's theirs. Because it's built on top of your Salesforce CRM, each person sees their own live data. It was previously called Community Cloud.

Is Experience Cloud the same as Salesforce Communities or Community Cloud?

Yes. Salesforce renamed Community Cloud (also called Salesforce Communities) to Experience Cloud. It's the same product line. If someone tells you your organization needs "Communities" or a "community portal," they're describing what's now called Experience Cloud.

Does Salesforce Nonprofit Cloud include Experience Cloud licenses?

Experience Cloud portal access is generally licensed separately from your core Salesforce licenses, and the right setup depends on how many external users you expect and what they'll do. We help you figure out the most cost-effective licensing during Discovery, so you're not paying for more than you need.

What kinds of portals can you build with Experience Cloud?

How long does it take to build a portal?

A focused single-purpose portal can take a few weeks to a couple of months; a complex portal with guided applications, multiple user types, and deep integrations takes longer. We give you a specific timeline in Discovery, before you commit to the build.

Will the portal work on phones, and for people with disabilities?

It should, and we build for both. Many of the people who use nonprofit portals are on phones, sometimes with older devices or slower connections, so we design for that from the start. Accessibility isn't an add-on either — a portal that shuts people out isn't doing its job. We build with these realities in mind rather than bolting them on at the end.
